UNESCO Cities: Split

Largest city in Dalmatia, founded in Roman times, 1700 years of history!

A relaxing drive along the Adriatic Coast, over the newly built Pelješac bridge, through the picturesque landscape of the Neretva River Delta, followed by a short and pleasant motorway drive will take us to Split, the biggest city and port in Dalmatia today, built 1700 years ago on the Marjan Peninsula. We will walk down the narrow streets of the Diocletian’s Palace from the 4th century, stroll through its excellently preserved basement galleries and visit the old Temple of Jupiter in the central, ancient Peristyle Square, today the city
Cathedral and the oldest building of its kind in the world. We will also pass through the famous Golden and
Silver Gates and the historical squares to reach the lively city market and Riva, where you can spend your free afternoon enjoying yourselves strolling or shopping.
